Weather Cayo Guillermo, Cuba

Cuba is an archipelago of islands in the Caribbean Sea. The main island is surrounded by four island groups. These are the « Colorados », « Sabana-Camaguey » (where you find the « Jardines del Rey » with Cayo Guillermo, Cayo Coco, Cayo Santa Maria and many more islands), « Jardines de la Reina » and « Canarreos ».

The island of Cuba has an area of 105.006 km2 and is the seventeenth largest island in the world by area. The second largest of Cuba is « Isla de la Juventud » or Isle of Youth located in the south-west of Cuba with an area of 3.056 km2.

The climate of Cuba is subtropical, thanks to its proximity to the Tropic of Cancer. The average annual temperature fluctuates between 20 and 35 º C, lowering sometimes to 10 ° C and 5 ° C in rare cases.

The eastern region (the provinces of Holguin, Granma, Santiago de Cuba and Guantamano) enjoy warmer weather than the west and the temperature variations between day and night are less accentuated.

Cayo Guillermo enjoys a tropical climate where it is warm all year. The dry season is from December to April and wet season from May to November, and that's when hurricanes are most likely to occur. During the months of December, January and February the nights can sometimes be a little chilly. A constant breeze makes the heat more bearable, especially during the wet season.

NOTE: Do not take for granted the weather forecast in the south countries, because there are frequent warnings of rain. This is normal during the wet season, because actually there are rain events, which are transient and not all day.
